Starwood Preferred Guest Starpoints Early 2018 Promotion
Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) is one of the well-regarded loyalty points programs. Not only do members earn points for hotel stays, they can also convert it to many other airline miles programs like Asiana Club.
From now until March 16th, SPG is running a new promotion that allows you to buy Starpoints for less.
All year-round, SPG offers their loyalty currency at the rate of $35 per 1000 miles. Their current offer is 35% off this standard price for purchases of at least 5000 miles. Any member can take get this deal. Everyone else can sign up for an account to take advantage of it fourteen days after registration; you’re good to go for this deal if you made one before March 2.
However, SPG imposes a purchase limit of 30,000 Starpoints per calendar year. This is a rather unfortunate restriction, because you can convert Starpoints into many other airline loyalty programs’ miles. And for most programs they give you 5,000 extra miles for every 20,000 Starpoints converted, too.
Keep in mind that any miles bought do not count towards elite status.
Is the deal worth it at this price?
SPG only gives promotional discounts a few times a year, and usually at 35% based on its offer history. There had rarely been any better offers, so this is mainly as good as it gets.
Asian Miler values SPG Starpoints rather highly thanks to its usefulness and wide airline points transfer partnerships. And don’t forget that the Starwood Preferred Guest program is primarily a hotel points program; you can redeem Starpoints for the numerous properties under its hotel brands.
We’ve moved into a new year, so this is everyone’s first chance to get Starpoints for a good price. And should another deal come again, you still might get the chance to buy extra points beyond the official annual limit. So are you ready to take this opportunity?
